This Wednesday October 25, the fifth edition of Encuentro+B began, the largest event of the B Companies movement in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Meeting aims to promote collective action to generate positive environmental and social impacts. Monterrey, Nuevo León, October 25, 2023.- The University of Monterrey was the official headquarters of the fifth edition of the Encuentro+B , organized by Sistema B, a member organization of a global network that is transforming the way in which Companies relate to society and the environment. It brought together Certified B Companies, the private sector, strategic allies, academia, public authorities, opinion leaders and citizens in general in order to promote collective action in the search for solutions to the most urgent socio-environmental problems. This fifth edition was inaugurated by Martha Herrera, Secretary of Equality and Inclusion, Government of Nuevo León, and Francisco Murray, Executive Director of Sistema B International, who welcomed the attendees and reminded that the business world plays a fundamental role in the incidence of strategic decisions that impact globally; and that it is possible to live an economy where companies can be profitable and successful, while still generating social and environmental benefits, contributing to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ), goals that were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is time for action and in Companies B the way to do it is to do it together, which is why he urged those present to make the + B Meeting a transformation event, highlighted Francisco Murray, Executive Director of Sistema B International. This 2023, the Encuentro+B was possible thanks to great strategic allies such as the Government of Nuevo León, the Government of Monterrey, Danone, GERNAU, UDEM, Grupo Davines, Natura, Grupo L'OCCITANE and the TEC of Monterrey. The collaboration between the public sector, companies and universities demonstrates a joint Chile Mobile Number List commitment to transformation towards a new economic model. This diversity of partners suggests a comprehensive and interdependent approach, to address challenges and promote innovative solutions in different sectors and markets. Furthermore, Javier Herrero, Executive Director of Sistema B México, indicated that this Meeting would not be possible without a place that is willing to change, and this is one of the reasons why the city of Monterrey was selected, having UDEM as venue of the event. On the first day of this Meeting, there was a focus on observation and reflection on contexts and realities experienced at the continental level, understanding what is happening in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as at the local level, through spaces where they specifically talked about Mexico.
During the reflection Laura Ortíz Montemayor, Founder and General Director, Propósitos SVX México, indicated that the city is not putting life at the center of decisions, but rather the economy at the center of these, ensuring that “in a healthy economy, "There should be the possibility of having a river where you can live and that is not happening today in Monterrey," and he specified that royal companies must prepare to take advantage of their full potential and evolve. At the Encuentro+B, innovative tools and methodologies were presented that serve to design impact business models which strengthen equity, inclusion and sustainability in companies, highlighting diversity as a fundamental asset. Furthermore, this model presents alternatives that have led companies in other countries down the path of deplasticization and promoting solutions that include regeneration as a pillar. This holistic approach reflects a comprehensive commitment to social responsibility and the creation of shared value. This edition of the Encuentro+B adopted a collective action approach to enhance the impact on the social industry, through conferences, workshops and sessions given by national and international experts, leaders in their fields, who have come together to address the SDGs, generated a space conducive to collaboration and the exchange of ideas to promote innovative solutions and a new form of territorial development through impact trade.
