Arco is a set of soft seating furniture pieces for third parties composed of five puffs complemented by a sound-absorbing separating panel and an auxiliary table. When all the pieces are put together they form an arch, hence its name. However, it is much more than that. It is the project created by five students from the easd school in alicante and awarded in the first edition of the actiu academy awards. Starting from the “ design of third spaces ” initiative - organized together with ecocero and finsa - an attempt was made to rethink the classic pieces of furniture for versatile, productive and functional spaces where the word monotony does not exist in the educational field.
It was about launching a challenge to the students of the three public schools of the valencian community - escoles d'art I superior de disseny (easd) of valencia , alicante and alcoi and the instituto superior de enseñanzas artísticas (isecav) : to provide Germany Mobile Number List solutions to new educational spaces, taking as a basic premise the way in which users interact with them. Through a workshop based on the design thinking methodology , actiu academy brought together more than a hundred students in november, at its facilities in castalla, to review and provide new solutions to the design of educational spaces. As a result, the students have presented 22 projects with which they have developed a series of solutions to the challenge of designing multifunctional educational spaces focused on current educational needs. Of these 22 projects presented, five were selected as finalists: inteam (easd valència), rubby (easd alicante), arco (easd alicante), neo-gami (easd alcoi) and omni (easd alicante).
The rest of the pieces were exhibited at the award ceremony, organized at the carme del center del carme de cultura contemporània (cccc) in valencia where the five teams were able to present their proposals and, after the jury's deliberation, the winner was announced. The second prize went to neo-gami , a design based on the origami technique, a folding table that can be used by one or several people and with the option of adding dividers. Designed for the personalization of educational spaces due to its versatility of use and its range of colors. Of the winning projects, the presentation made to the jury, originality and ease of commercialization were valued . In addition, the two projects will be prototyped with the materials and technologies of the organizing companies , ensuring that the talent of their designers takes shape in real products. Actiu has been committed to education for years and collaborating with institutions dedicated to training in the field of design. Now, in addition, she collaborates with design schools to give the green light to different projects that are likely to find a place in her projects thanks to the pool of local talent.
